چکیده

The infeasibility problem in traditional super efficiency models has been well established. A generalization of traditional inputor output-oriented super efficiency models, the directional distance function also suffers from infeasibility and related problems. The hyperbolic-oriented efficiency measure provides an alternative to the input-oriented, output-oriented, and directional efficiency measures in super efficiency models and it has the distinct advantage of eliminating the infeasibility problem for positive input/output data. We also show that using a hyperbolic orientation in a super efficiency model allows us to find feasible solutions for certain cases when the requirement for all data to be positive is relaxed. Further we demonstrate the hyperbolic orientated super efficiency method in an outlier detection application. Together, these results establish the use of the hyperbolic orientation in super efficiency analysis as a realistic alternative in practice.

A new approach to rank the decision making units in presence of infeasibility in intuitionistic fuzzy environment

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a linear programming based methodology to determine the relative performance efficiencies of homogeneous decision making units (DMUs). In real world applications, some input and output datas do not possess crisp/fuzzy essence but they possess intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) essence. So, in this study, we develop an IF BCC (IFBCC) and an IF super efficiency BCC (IFSE...

A Method for Solving Super-Efficiency Infeasibility by Adding virtual DMUs with Mean Values

Using super-efficiency, with regard to ranking efficient units, is increasing in DEA. However, this model has some problems such as the infeasibility. Thus, this article studies infeasibility of the input-based super-efficiency model (because of the zero inputs and outputs), and presents a solution by adding two virtual DMUs with mean values (one for inputs and one for outputs). Adding virtual ...

Measuring super-efficiency in DEA in the presence of infeasibility

Super-efficiency data envelopment analysis (DEA) model is obtained when a decision making unit (DMU) under evaluation is excluded from the reference set. Because of the possible infeasibility of super-efficiency DEA model, the use of super-efficiency DEA model has been restricted to the situations where constant returns to scale (CRS) are assumed. It is shown that one of the input-oriented and ...

A novel radial super-efficiency DEA model handling negative data

Super-efficiency model in the presence of negative data is a relatively neglected issue in the DEA field. The existing super-efficiency models have some shortcomings in practice. In this paper, a novel VRS radial super-efficiency DEA model based on Directional Distance Function (DDF) is proposed to provide a complete ranking order of units (including efficient and inefficient ones). The propose...

An Output Oriented Super-Efficiency Model for Considering Time Lag Effect

Abstract—There exists some time lag between the consumption of inputs and the production of outputs. This time lag effect should be considered in calculating efficiency of decision making units (DMU). Recently, a couple of DEA models were developed for considering time lag effect in efficiency evaluation of research activities. However, these models can’t discriminate efficient DMUs because of ...
